This Dream

ThisDream

With April being Poetry Month I doff my hat to all the poets in the world. With humble pen in hand and crisp sheets on the desk, I scribble and scrawl the words which beat within my breast.

This Dream

There’s this dream

of things unseen filtered through

lens of ill-adjusted eyes

There’s this dream

of hope that spills, feeding us courage

to strive

You’ve once had this dream

this life unseen

yet realized

like a foggy breath

on a misty morning vaporized

This thing unseen we call a dream

swells and throbs within our womb

It shifts and grows–this

delicate hold–

This, time’s reaper, this sifting vapor,

can steal away from you

A couple months ago I photographed some dedicated and talented dance students. It was a fantastic shoot because they loved being in front of the camera and knew how to have fun with their poses. They are a tight-knit group of students who are very proud of their team.

Preparing for the group pose induces many giggles.

When it’s time to nail it they transition into girls who are poised and fierce.

Places & positions, ladies.

One, two, three–bend.

When waiting…the camera captures their individual personalities.

Red is my favorite to watch…my camera loves her.

Strength & teamwork.

Must first plant feet properly.

Grace & poise.

Uh-huh.

There are days we are meant to soar.
