Midweek Roundup

MidweekRoundup5

Happy Wednesday, folks! Errr…Thursday, I mean. Yep, I’m playing catch-up this week. Dishes are piled in the sink, laundry is waiting for me in the dryer, and my furniture needs to be dusted. C’est la vie. A dear friend of mine is moving at the end of the month. I am going to miss her ever so much, but I don’t want to dwell on that. We’re planning a ladies night before she leaves, which I am very much looking forward.

Ah, so let’s see what roundups we have for this week. From my inbox to your desktop (or phone).

Oh looky!…

25 Custom Font Families for only $29! – For lovers of typography and designers in search for font bundles that won’t cost a month’s rent, check these out. Hurry, sale ends in a few days. (I purchased this package yesterday; very pleased with the selections provided.)

8 Tips for Writing Like You Mean It – Sometimes we need refreshers, and this one includes good examples.

Halloween Costumes – That you didn’t know you already had. (Anyone ever dressed like their parent for Halloween?)

New Year’s Eve Ball – In Austria…at the Hofburg, mind you. Not too early to plan. This one’s been on my wish list for YEARS. One day I’ll get to go…with a Valentino or Oscar de la Renta gown, mind you.

5 Fall Recipes for Wine Lovers – Let me just take a week’s sabbatical, restock my wine rack and cook to my heart’s content.

Stamps – No, not the kind you lick, nor the self-adhesive variety. Customized stamps for your brand. How chic and tres sophisticated is that?

Sofa Soiree

(for that night you get to lounge on the sofa and indulge in some me time)

A Kitchen In France

“When Mimi Thorisson and her family moved from Paris to a small town in out-of-the-way Médoc, she did not quite know what was in store for them. She found wonderful ingredients—from local farmers and the neighboring woods—and, most important, time to cook. Her cookbook chronicles the family’s seasonal meals and life in an old farmhouse, all photographed by her husband, Oddur. Mimi’s convivial recipes—such as Roast Chicken with Herbs and Crème Fraîche, Cèpe and Parsley Tartlets, Winter Vegetable Cocotte, Apple Tart with Orange Flower Water, and Salted Butter Crème Caramel—will bring the warmth of rural France into your home.”
